What we keep, what we never do, and how your family stays in charge of it.
Last updated: October 5, 2026
For kids
The games, drawings and stories you make are yours.
We never ask where you live, your phone number or your school.
Use a nickname. Never put your real full name in a game.
Ask your grown-up before you share a game with anyone.
If something online makes you feel weird or upset, stop and tell a grown-up.
The rest of this page is for your grown-up.
The short version
Buildable Kids is a place for children to make and play games, with a grown-up in charge of the account. We collect as little as we can, only to make the app work for your family.
We never show ads.
We never sell or rent your family's information.
We never track your child across other websites or apps.
We never ask a child for an email, phone number or home address.
Kids cannot send typed messages to strangers.
What we keep
From you, the grown-up
Your email address, so we can send your sign-in code and keep your family's things saved.
The name you want us to call you, if you give one.
If you pay for a plan, your plan and billing status. Card details go straight to our payment company. We never see or store your card number.
About your kids, from you
A first name or nickname for each child, a picture or character to stand for them, and their age range or grade.
Things they love (like dinosaurs or space), so games and lessons fit them.
An optional PIN, stored scrambled so nobody can read it.
What kids make and do
Their creations: games, drawings, stories, songs and the words they type to describe them.
Their voice. When a child talks instead of typing, the recording is turned into words and then thrown away. We keep only the words. If a child chooses to record their own voice as a sound in their game, we keep that clip as part of the game until you delete it.
Progress: which games and lessons they played, levels finished, and answers in learning games, so they can pick up where they left off and you can see how they are doing.
From the device
A random ID saved in the browser, so creations stay saved on that device before you make an account. It holds no names.
Simple visit counts (which page, which country, phone or computer). These do not use cookies and we do not store IP addresses with them.
Small settings saved in the browser, like sound on or off and which child is playing.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
How we use it
To run Buildable: sign you in, save creations, and turn your child's ideas into games, pictures, sounds and stories.
To keep things kind and safe: check words and pictures before they can be shared, and look into reports.
To send you, the grown-up, a weekly note about what your kids made and learned. We never email children.
To send you a drawing when your child taps Show my family in Make Art. It only goes to the grown-ups on your own family account, never to an address a child types, and at most a few a day.
To answer you when you write to us, and to handle your plan if you pay.
To see which parts of Buildable work and which are confusing, using counts, not profiles.
We do not use your child's information to build an advertising profile, and we do not use it for anything a parent would not expect.
Who helps us
A few trusted companies help us run Buildable. They may only use what we send them to do that job for us, not for their own purposes.
Hosting and storage: Vercel and Supabase keep the app running and store your family's account and creations.
Making games, pictures and sounds: Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, fal.ai and Replicate turn a child's ideas into games, art, voices and music, and help us check pictures for safety. We send them the idea or picture, not your email address.
Email: Resend delivers sign-in codes and grown-up updates.
Payments: Stripe handles plans and card payments.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect a child's safety. If Buildable is ever sold or merged, this policy's promises go with your family's information, and we will tell you first.
Sharing and safety
Private by default. Creations live in your family's library until someone chooses to share them.
Share links and the gallery. A shared game, or a drawing sent with Show my family, can be opened by anyone with the link. The drawing page shows the picture and your child's first name, never your email. Only a signed-in grown-up can put a creation in the public gallery, where other families can find it. A shared game shows the game and its name, never your email.
Public lessons. A grown-up can choose to make a lesson they made (a spelling list, word list, math set or encyclopedia page) Public. It is checked first, then other families can find it at /free-lessons and on search engines. It shows the lesson and a name the grown-up picks, like Mia R., never their email, their children, or how their children did. A grown-up can make it private again any time.
Playing with friends. Families connect only through a private code that a grown-up passes along. Players can send quick ready-made reactions, never free-typed chat.
Kind words. Words a child types are checked for unkind or grown-up language before anything is made or shared. Pictures are checked before other families can see them.
Report button. Every shared game has one. We review reports and remove anything that is not right for kids.
Teachers you invite
You can choose to add a teacher for one of your children. This is optional, and nothing is shared with a teacher unless you add one.
You agree first. Before the invite is sent, you tick a box agreeing to share that child's first name, their brain break results, and the lessons made for them with the teacher's email you typed. We keep a record of when you agreed.
The teacher agrees too. Before seeing anything, the teacher agrees to use it only to teach your child, not to download or share it outside school, and to follow their school's privacy rules.
What a teacher sees. Your child's first name, what they practiced in brain breaks and how they did, and the lessons made for them. A teacher can also make spelling lists and math sets for your child.
What a teacher never sees. Your email, your other children, anything your child makes (games, drawings, stories, songs), messages, or payments.
Classes. A teacher can also invite a whole class with a class code. Joining works the same way: you tick the same kind of agreement for your child, and the teacher sees the same things for every child who joined. During school hours the teacher can choose which games are on, the level, and learning breaks; at home your own settings apply.
Class iPads. A teacher can add students by first name to use on the school's own iPads, after confirming their school approved Buildable Kids for the class. Those students have no family account; we keep only the first name, the class level and what they practiced. When the teacher removes a student, their name is deleted.
Remove any time. Open your child's learning page and choose Remove teacher. Access ends right away, lessons from that teacher stop showing up, and we email the teacher that access ended. You can see when a teacher last looked.
Your choices
You are in charge of your children's information. At any time you can:
See what we have about your children.
Fix or change it.
Delete a creation from your library.
Delete your whole account yourself: sign in, open the Grown-ups area, and choose Delete account. Or ask us to do it.
Tell us to stop collecting anything new about your child. Some parts of Buildable may stop working for them.
Stop the weekly email with the link at the bottom of any of them.
Stop the Show my family picture emails with the link at the bottom of any of them. Your child's drawings stay in My Art.
Remove a teacher you invited, from your child's learning page. Their access ends right away.
For anything else, write to hello@buildablekids.com from the email on your account. We will reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.
Where you live may give you more rights. Families in California, other US states, the UK and the EU may have extra rights to access, correct, delete or move their information. We honor them for every family, wherever you live.
Children's privacy law
Buildable is made for children around ages 5 to 12. A grown-up creates the account and confirms it with a code sent to their email. By doing so, you tell us you are the child's parent or legal guardian and agree to the collection described here.
If you think a child is using Buildable without a parent's okay, write to us and we will delete what we have.
How long we keep it
Creations and progress stay until you delete them or close your account.
When you delete your account, your family's information and creations are removed right away, and any paid plan is canceled. Backup copies clear out on their own within 30 days.
Voice recordings used for talking instead of typing are not kept at all.
Keeping it safe
Information travels encrypted. Each family can only reach its own library. Sign-in uses one-time codes, so there is no password to steal. No system is perfect, and if something ever goes wrong that affects your family, we will tell you quickly.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your children's information, we will email you first and ask for your okay where the law requires it. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
