A shark's rows of teeth
Made by Buildable Kids
- A shark does not have one row of teeth. It has rows behind rows, like a conveyor belt. When a tooth falls out, the one behind slides forward to take its place, so a shark can go through thousands of teeth in a lifetime.
- A shark's skeleton is not made of bone at all. It is made of cartilage, the same bendy stuff inside the tip of your nose. That makes sharks lighter and helps them turn quickly.
- Shark skin is covered in tiny tooth-shaped scales called denticles. Rub it one way and it feels like sandpaper, and those scales help water slide past so the shark swims quietly.
