Some cats sleep on your bed. These ones live in tall grass, warm rivers and cold mountains. Turn the page and meet them.
A group of lions is called a pride, and a pride is mostly family. The lionesses in it are mothers, sisters and cousins who grew up together, and they live with their cubs and a few grown males. A small pride might be three lions. A big one can be thirty.
The cheetah is the fastest runner on land. It can reach about 60 to 70 miles an hour, faster than cars on the highway, and it goes from standing still to highway speed in only a few strides.
Most cats hate getting wet. Tigers are the happy exception. They are strong swimmers with slightly webbed toes, and on a hot day a tiger will wade into a pond or a river and lie there to cool off.
A snow leopard's tail is enormous, close to three feet long. Out on a narrow rocky ledge it swings like a tightrope walker's pole to keep the cat balanced, and when the cat curls up to sleep it wraps that thick furry tail around itself like a scarf.
